BJP’s second preference votes did the trick for Kartikeya

The last-minute victory of Kartikeya Sharma, an Independent candidate backed by BJP-JJP for one of the two Haryana Rajya Sabha seats, stems from the maths behind the counting of votes in the polls, and derived from one Congress vote being declared invalid. It was the second preference votes transferred from BJP’s Krishan Lal Panwar that helped Sharma sail through in the nail-biting contest for the Upper House seat.
