Gujarat high court files suo motu PIL on Morbi bridge collapse

The Gujarat high court Monday filed a suo motu PIL on the October 30 Morbi suspension bridge collapse that claimed 135 lives and issued notices to the government, the district administration, municipal authorities and the state human rights commission, seeking reports on the tragedy and its aftermath by November 14. The HC bench issued the order on the first day of court proceedings after the Diwali break, taking cognisance of a TOI report published the morning after the catastrophe.
